My little baby boy is not so little anymore!!

He is going into high school next year and I can’t believe it. I’m so excited for him though, because he has really started to hit his growth spurt, find his own way, find his people, and find his purpose. So proud to watch him grow and see the changes throughout the years.

I remember picking him up when he was little, holding him in my arms, having him as my sidekick on trips to the grocery store, and coaching him (and his sister) in baseball. Now I just pick him up whenever he falls down, dust him off, help him get back up, and show him the way. After all, that’s what parenting is about, right?

One day you realize you still have a lot to learn, but you must teach others the right way to do life. I have been working on him, guiding him, directing him, mentoring him, as he discovers his own purpose.

It’s just like my team at the office: We are always working to find our purpose in the mortgage industry. Just as I’ve guided my son, my coach and mentors in the industry have helped me shape my purpose for those I lead (employees), coach (my business partners) and teach (my clients).

It is all about other people’s money (OPM); other people’s mortgage (OPM); other people’s success (OPS); and most importantly other people’s salvation (OPS)! With my one word this year being SIMPLIFY, it’s awesome to see the overlaps in personal & professional development. So here is the simple formula to remind me daily:

OPM^2 + OPS^2 = My purpose in life
